how i made chamber of my thoughts
preamble:
for anyone that thinks music needs to be produced on a set of really nice studio monitors with perfect acoustics and scientifically engineered mixing that rivals that of the greats, good for you! but 90% of the time, you don't need anything fancy to make music. good music will prevail no matter how bad the mixing or mastering is. my personal favorite example is Car Seat Headrest's Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror), an amazing album that is still one of my favorites, but with really low quality and muddy mixing. this is mostly done on purpose, but some of it is also because Will Toledo didn't have a fancy studio or anything like that to make the album with, all he had was an idea and the drive. Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror) is still a cult classic in many music communities online, and again is one of my favorites.
